NAPWA works with community-based organizations, elected officials, government agencies, individuals, private industry, and coalitions to build capacity for National HIV Testing Day and other HIV testing events; to reduce AIDS stigma; to promote HIV-positive visible leadership; and to work with community planning groups. In the past few years, NAPWA has developed a more targeted approach to its capacity building programs to highlight communities that suffer a disproportionate disease burden, including Latinos, African Americans, youth, and long-term survivors. In all these communities, we focus particular attention on issues that affect women, gay and bisexual men, and transgendered individuals.
